Patchwork Produce is a not-for-profit initiative in Fairfield County, Connecticut that collects surplus produce from home gardens and partners with a nearby farm to redistribute it to local communities in need.
At Patchwork Produce we believe every community has an untapped abundance of generosity.
Based in Fairfield County, CT, we coordinate the pickup of surplus fruits and vegetables from home gardens and deliver them to a partner farm for distribution to local food pantries, making it easy to ensure fresh food doesn’t go to waste.
We currently serve home gardeners across Fairfield County, CT, and Westchester County, NY.
How it works
When small acts of generosity come together, we can make a big impact. That’s the Patchwork.
About us
“Last year I donated 40 bushels of surplus apples from my own garden. It was one of the most rewarding things I've done. And I knew I wasn't the only gardener who'd feel that way — people just needed a simple way to share.”
— Catie Marron - Founder, Patchwork ProducePatchwork Produce was founded by Catie Marron, an enthusiastic gardener and author of several books, including Becoming a Gardener: What Reading and Digging Taught Me About Living (2022). Last year, she met an inspiring woman who runs Davoren Farm in New York, dedicated to growing fresh produce for local food pantries. That connection sparked the idea for Patchwork Produce.
We're a small team working together to coordinate pickups and deliveries. One garden at a time, we're building the patchwork.
